A thought on God's self-consciousness

epic diagram

If God is both infinite and omniscient, God and God's self consciousness1 are both infinite. This is because the self-consciousness has to be as large as the self. You would need an infinite mirror to see yourself infinitely tall. It's unlimited consciousness of something that cannot have a limit. My awesome graph at the start of the page illustrates my problem, even if the red continues into both (-∞,∞) the 0 to 5 space limits it. In the same way, if we called the line A -∞ to 0 and 1 to ∞ B, wouldn't it be nonsensical to differentiate their size? The problem is that two infinities can't exist, as they would limit each other. Therefore, both must be the same thing. This is also why there cannot be two infinite Gods. This is weird because God and God's conciseness have to be the same thing, as in the same substance.

This isn't anything new, really I'm just talking about Spinoza's monism. This next statement is mine, and you can tell because it's stupid.

Self consciousness cannot be synthetic. Meaning it cannot take construction to produce. It's entirely simple. This is why 5+7 does equal 12 but the two aren't the same thing. No analysis of 5 and 7 will ever get you 12.2 You have to synthesize it. So, infinite work would be required for an infinite consciousness, if it were synthetic like this. Again they would limit each other. That is all to say that consciousness is simple, and it happens all at once. It doesn't have moving parts. It's like how a flashlight only works on something, and when pointed into the night sky it has no impact.

  1. When I say self-consciousness I don't mean self esteem, I mean the ability to know oneself. I don't know if it's a silly thing to clarify.

  2. This example and my usage of "synthetic" is from Kant's CoPR, which I have a midwit understanding of.
